International Nursing College at a Glance

Introduction

International Nursing College (INC) is one of the pioneers among private nursing colleges in Bangladesh. It conducts high-quality academic programs to produce nurses as per international standards. It intends to kindle the light of learning in its students that matches with the need of the healthcare employment market both in-home and abroad. The total set-up of International Nursing College has been organized in a well-planned way so that the students can acquire all necessary skills which are essential for their profession.

This college started with the B. Sc in Nursing course in 2007. Later on, it introduced Post Basic B. Sc Nursing in 2014. The college has recently got approval for three more courses: M. Sc in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing Science and Midwifery, and Diploma in Midwifery.

The nursing profession is a noble profession utilizing a body of knowledge and art to apply scientific principles in providing standard and quality nursing care for people. We are committed to providing quality nursing education for the new nursing generation.

Mission

International Nursing College defines its mission as follows:

• To educate future professional nurses who would possess knowledge and competencies at the national and international standards relevant to social needs.
• To motivate students to be the self-oriented, moral, accountable, self-directed, and self-developed people who would always be ready to provide quality nursing service.
• To utilize knowledge in helping people for developing and/or maintaining the quality of life, improving the nursing profession and society.

Goal

• After the completion of a nursing degree, one will be a competent professional nurse who can demonstrate the competency of using the knowledge-based practice for the provision of holistic client-centered Quality Nursing & Midwifery Service.
• One would provide care to meet needs and expectations and to promote, maintain and restore the health of individuals, families, and communities in the commons.

Features of International Nursing College

Location
It is located at Gushulia on the outskirts of the commercial township of Tongi and is about 22 km away from the zero-point of Dhaka, The major bus terminals, main railway station, and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport are within a maximum automobile distance of 30 minutes. Amenities and modern facilities of city life are near enough though isolated in the spell-binding scheme of nature, which is truly a unique feature of the natural beauty of the Unit.

The Campus

The maddening busy streets and concrete forests of the capital city keep at a distance from the college. The campus stands in a solitary environment amidst green vegetation, spaced villages, and large water bodies. One can take a walk around the campus to take a fresh breath while enjoying the panorama.

Within the campus, International Medical College Hospital (IMCH) is situated as the teaching hospital of INC. It is a 600-bedded multidisciplinary Hospital Complex that is located in proximity to the College building. The present campus of the College comprises over 23 bighas of land. The total floor space of International Medical College Hospital is 204055 Sft. The existing facilities on various floors are also adequate to meet all study-related requirements of nursing students.

Our Facilities

Library Facilities

The central library of the College has a good number of high-quality text and academic reference books. Students can study in the library from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and can borrow books without charge.

Laboratory Facilities

There are required numbers of laboratory facilities for the subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition & Dietetics, Computer & IT, Fundamentals of Nursing, Midwifery and also English with a sufficient number of specimen, equipment, and instruments. Students avail all lab facilities for fulfilling the prescribed lab practicing hours of their curriculum. 

​Clinical Practice Facilities

Students are placed in real situations for clinical practice both in the hospital, and communities as per the requirement of the curriculum. To fulfill the required practical hours, students do their clinical practice in various wards of IMCH throughout the year for 2 weeks each month under the supervision of the subject teachers.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facilities are provided by the college for the female students in its own premises. Male students have to live in a rented house adjacent to the college campus with the supervision of college authority and under the guidance of nursing college teachers.

Transport Facilities

Students, living in Dhaka city can avail themselves of the college buses for their transportation to and from the campus free of cost. Those who reside at Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, Shyamoli, Gabtall, Mirpur, Tongl, Uttara, Khilkhet, Banani, Mohakhali, DOHS, Tejgaon, Shahbagh or areas adjacent to these got easy transport facility, Students from other areas of Dhaka can also use this facility at the nearest selected spots in the above-mentioned areas. The students who live in the college hostel usually avail of college buses to go to Tongi and Dhaka for shopping and other necessary purposes around the week.

Internship

The students successfully passing the final B. Sc in Nursing (BSN) examination will have to undergo at least six months of internship training at International Medical College Hospital (IMCH). During internship training, subsistence wages will be given to the interns. 

ESL
A special program is conducted for the development of English language proficiency of the students. This program is English as a Second Language (ESL) Certificate Program. After successful completion of the ESL program, our students receive ESL certificates from an American university – the Kean University. So, our students have an opportunity to avail themselves of two (02) prestigious certificates, one from Kean University, NJ, USA, and another one from the University of Dhaka.

Efforts are taken to enable the students to:

• Apply their acquired knowledge and skills of nursing in their practical field efficiently and independently.
• Communicate effectively with patients, clients, colleagues, and significant others.
• Utilize critical thinking ability with analytical judgment in professional decision-making.
• Co-operate and collaborate as team members with other health professionals. Promote health awareness and educate the community members about the concept of health, illness, and how to lead a healthy life.
