Celebrating International Day of Midwives 2026

The International Nursing College proudly celebrated International Midwives Day today with great enthusiasm and a series of engaging programs, highlighting the invaluable contributions of midwives in healthcare.
This year’s global slogan, “One Million More Midwives,” was at the heart of the celebration, emphasizing the urgent need to strengthen the midwifery workforce to ensure safe and quality care for mothers and newborns worldwide.
The program featured a colorful rally, inspiring speeches, a cake-cutting ceremony, and a well-decoration segment, creating a vibrant and meaningful atmosphere.
The program was graced by Maj Gen Dr. Md Mahbubur Rahman (Retd), Executive Director of IML, as the Chief Guest. In his speech, he highlighted the increasing importance of midwives in the healthcare system and stressed the need to invest in their education and professional development.
Among other distinguished speakers were the Director of IMCH, Director (Project) of IML, the Principal, and the Vice Principal of the college. All speakers underscored the crucial role of midwives in reducing maternal and neonatal mortality and reiterated the significance of the theme “One Million More Midwives” in addressing future healthcare challenges.
The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment from students, faculty, and administration to support and advance the midwifery profession.
International Nursing College remains dedicated to developing skilled, compassionate, and professional midwives to serve the nation and contribute to global health goals.
